Love vintage, but hate the hassle of reupholstering? Like mixing in some hip new stuff, too? Here's the shop for you.

A new thomas paul rug (right) hangs behind vintage seating that's been updated with contemporary fabrics; A danish modern dining set (left) and new linens round out the mix.

A new stop on the vintage-furniture-scouting route has opened in West Town in the former space of Olde Good Things (which closed its doors in Chicago last year). Owned by former Holly Hunt staffer Angela Finney-Hoffman and her husband, Barkley Hoffman, a merchandising manager at Lucky Brand Jeans, Post 27 has an appealing high-end-meets-indie vibe. The airy warehouse space houses a large selection of Danish mid-century modern case goods and furniture (often reupholstered in upscale Merchandise Mart fabrics) mixed with new accessories from cottage-industry American designers, such as Berkeley, California-based Josh Jakus (best known for his egg-carton-like felt bowls), and pillows from Chicago-based Agnes & Hoss. Also find paintings by both owners and, eventually, pillows, furniture, and lighting designed by Finney-Hoffman. The furniture prices, she says, are comparable to those at Crate & Barrel; she's banking that shoppers would prefer to spend their money on originality. 1819 W. Grand Ave., 312-829-6122.
