Kohler made a splash in November when it opened its first-ever retail showroom-right here in Chicago, in LuxeHome (Merchandise Mart, Suite 100; 312-755-2510). The space, which features 30 working showerheads, tubs, toilets, and faucets, as well as plumbing fixture options from three of the company's lines (Kohler, Kallista, and Robern) is designed to help customers make informed decisions about water pressure, fixture finishes, sink colors, and more. The showroom also has dozens of books of bathroom sketches by noteworthy interior designers (among them Christopher Coleman, Brian Covington, and Clodagh), which incorporate Kohler products in inspiring combinations. In an adjoining space, Kohler-owned Ann Sacks (312-923-0919) offers top-of-the-line fixtures from Kallista and more than 500 high-end tile options, including mosaics, borders, and a proprietary line. Seven bathroom suites show off designer tile and other glamorous offerings-including a $35,000 copper bathtub.
