22 years old // Hedge fund trading-desk assistant and budding poet // Raised in Memphis, Tennessee; lives in Old Town
When I was in college,* I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, so I asked my dad. He said, "Most men lead lives of quiet desperation, and I never want that for you."** // Fortunately and unfortunately, if you asked my friends to sum me up in one word: "driven." // My pet peeve is seeing people buy books from airport newsstands, as if they would only buy a book to kill time at LaGuardia. You should always have a book with you. A good novel is not like a stick of gum; it's a way of life. // My siblings call me Napoleon because I'm short*** and bossy. // When I was younger, my ideal date was Aladdin. I thought he would come on a magic carpet and show me the world. He would be a homeless urchin, but he wouldn't smell bad. He would just be very romantic.
* Tara majored in English and African American studies at Northwestern. Her first book of poetry, More Than Dancing, will be published this summer by Chicago's Third World Press. ** Tara's family tends to be an exception. She's a direct descendant of Hiram Revels, the first black U.S. senator. *** She's five-feet-four.

This is the best writeup ever and I think the part about Aladdin was adorable. The photo is great took, she looks very strong, but fun
Good God...well, I've got the street urchin part down. (As long as I don't have to wear that damn vest:) Hopefully her romantic sensibility survives the world of finance.
